My Wonderful Husband

Zach has had so much work lately! He does it all and doesn't complain about it and he always tries his best. He still comes home and gives me back rubs and helps with stuff around the house if I haven't gotten to it all. He is so good to me. He has had so much work this week that I didn't get to see him really at all Monday, Tuesday, or most of Wednesday. He had homework so late Monday and Tuesday nights. On Wednesday, I just really missed seeing him. He could definitely sense that because he did the homework that he had to get done by today done, and then he just came home and said that he was all mine. We just relaxed together and made apple crisp. It was good to just see him. He's back to working hard again. He was home this afternoon for a while and we had dinner together. I love him and I love the times that we can spend with one another.

Thank you, Zach, for working so hard, and still making time to just hang out with me. I love you and I thank God that I got to marry my best friend!

Our Weekend

This weekend, the 2WO off-campus girls had a retreat. We left Friday evening. It was such a great time to just be able to catch up with all of those girls. I took my camera, but forgot to take pictures while I was there. We ate Pizza Hut for dinner and just hung out all night. We finally all went to bed around 2 a.m. This was the first night that Zach and I weren't together since we've been married. It was pretty hard, but I'm glad I was able to spend time with the girls. We woke up on Saturday morning and had a HUGE breakfast and then came back to Upland.

When I got back, Zach had gone over to Lauren Vriezema's house to do homework, so I packed up some homework and walked over to her house. She took care of Zach and made him chocolate chip pancakes that morning. Thanks Lauren!!!

After that, we ate a quick lunch and headed to Walmart. I was excited because I was able to buy curtains. They are really simple, but I like them.

After Walmart, we ate dinner. Man that was an experience. We made chicken quesadillas with onion and green peppers. We decided to fry them. So, we heated the oil up and cooked them almost perfectly. And then, without either of us really thinking, Zach decided to start soaking the pan in the sink while we ate. Hot oil and water... TONS of steam. Thank God no one got burned... but the whole apartment got steamed up, so we quick turned on a bunch of fans and opened all of the windows and doors. We ate a yummy dinner anyways.

Zach had to work on homework last night, and Emily came over to make cookies... YAY! That was so much fun.

Once Emily left, Zach wanted me to cut his hair. So, I got out the clippers that my mom gave me, and grabbed the 3/8" guard. I tried to get all of the hair the same length and then I trimmed up his sideburns and neck. It looked great, but I was still expecting to find a couple long hairs that I'd have to fix; but for the night, we decided that we were tired so if we needed to fix anything we'd just do it after church.

This morning, Zach and I tried out a new church called New Life Presbyterian Church... we LOVED it. It's a church in Muncie, IN. Zach and I really enjoyed the sermon a lot, and the Pastor was very biblically focused. We also enjoyed the liturgy and mix of hymns and praise songs. We were both very blessed by the service. On our way back home, Zach pointed out the couple long hairs that I was expecting to see. I had an education lunch to go to at Dr. Quinn's house... it was soo good (and they told me to bring Zach next time... yay)... so I told Zach I'd trim his hair after that. We did a little bit of homework when I came home and then I trimmed Zach's hair.

*Let me just preface this story by saying that the clippers can charge and be used cordless. I had to use the cord last night to cut Zach's hair because I hadn't charged them in few months.*
I grabbed the clippers. I grabbed the guard. I turned on the clippers to see if they had enough juice to get through the trim. Zach said to just go for it. So I did. OOPS! I forgot to put the guard on the clippers. *Picture a bald patch in the middle of Zach's head*

Me: Oh my Gosh! *ran out of the bathroom and started crying on the couch... HAHA*
Zach: *Laughing* Cass are you laughing or crying?
Me: *crying*
Zach: Don't worry. I'm not mad. It's fine.
Me: Did you SEE it? I feel stupid.
Zach: Yeah... I'm bald. It's fine.

So... now I'm over it. I think it's funny. We laughed about it really hard, especially when we both remembered that I was holding both the clippers and the guard in my hands when I cut it.

So... Here it is.

It doesn't look that bad. I'm getting used to it now. I love him and he was very good about not being upset.

The rest of the day has been eating and homework.

What a great weekend.

Thank you God for so many memories is such a short time.

Michigan Fun

We got to Kalamazoo Saturday afternoon. We went to the house in there first to see its progress. After we checked it out, we we to Hastings to see Mono and Papa. We had Little Caesar's Pizza for dinner. Saturday night we played a couple games of Pedro (cards). Zach and I won the first game and Mom and Dad won the second game.

Sunday morning, Dad and I went to pick corn, peppers, and tomatoes. mmm... We got back to the house at about 10 am, just in time to wake Zach up and get ready to go to church. When we got home we at the roast, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, and apple crisp that Mom made. It was delicious. After lunch we got ready to go canoeing.

Here we are waiting patiently to go on our Sunday Afternoon Canoe trip.

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, so what better thing could we do than go down the river? This trip was our compatibility test to see how well Zach and I would work together vs. Mom and Dad. They got down the river faster than Zach and me--following the current helps a lot, but we weren't as good at is as Mom and Dad. We all ran into some trees at different times... and, oh, the spiders. YUCK! It was supposed to take us about 3 or 3 1/2 hours. We finished in about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Mom and Dad got the premium canoe, so they had seats with backs on them... lucky. Mom said that premium people get the premium canoes. True, true. :)
Fun was had by all.

Sunday evening when we got back, we at sloppy joes, tater tots, and zucchini casserole. After dinner we were all going to go out and pick pears. Zach and I picked some apples while we were waiting for Papa and Dad to get the bins set up on the tractor. While we were in the orchard, I got a couple HUGE mosquito bites on my forehead and back. That helped me decide to go inside with Mom and Mono instead.

But Dad and Zach climbed in the big apple bins and Papa lifted them to the top of the pair trees to pick. They were bummed that Mom didn't get a picture of them when they were at the top of the tree. They filled 6 half-bushel baskets.

After the pear-picking, we ate some of Papa's popcorn and visited. When we went back upstairs, we played another game of Pedro. Mom and Dad won 63-62... close game.

This morning, we got up, had breakfast, and came back to Taylor.
